Elyria Catholic High School has named Ruth Farmakidis its next Head Girls Tennis Coach, announced Athletic Director Jack Duffy on Tuesday afternoon. Coach Farmakidis previously served for two seasons as head girls tennis coach at Canton McKinley High School in 2014 and 2015. A graduate and tennis standout at Fairview High School, she returns to Northeast Ohio after previously teaching the past two years in North Carolina. “I am excited to be named head girls tennis coach at Elyria Catholic High School,” Farmakidis said. “I have taught for eleven years and coached for five. I look forward to returning to my home in Northeast Ohio and being part of the Elyria Catholic High School family!”
“We very are excited to welcome Ruth to Elyria Catholic,” Duffy said. “Her playing and coaching experiences at both Fairview and Canton McKinley will serve our program and athletes well as we continue to move forward.” Farmakidis will also teach Social Studies this year at Elyria Catholic.
The team will compete in the Great Lakes Conference and the G Division of the Northeast Ohio Tennis Association this fall.
All tennis players will be hearing from Coach Farmakidis in the coming days and weeks regarding plans for this upcoming season.
