Graduating senior Megan Scheibelhut was awarded the prestigious Ron and Janet Gilgenbach Outstanding Female Athlete Award for the 2017-18 school year.
This year’s Outstanding Female Athlete was successful in the classroom and athletics, and in the community.
Academically, Megan carried a 4.00 grade point average while taking many honors and Advanced Placement courses.
Outside of athletics, she has been involved with the Student Senate her Junior and Senior year and Spirit Senate this past year.
She has also been an Ambassador, a Music Minister, a member of the National Honors Society and a Peer Tutor.
She served her community and her school through assisting for a couple of years with Christmas on Campus as well as working a couple of years with the Special Olympics.
Athletically, this year, she was a member of the Regional final soccer team. She received many awards from the county, conference, district and region.
In the winter, she was one of the standouts who assisted the girls basketball team into their fourth straight season as conference champions, and helped guide the Panthers to a Regional Championship and a spot in the 2018 Girls Basketball Final Four in Columbus.
This spring, she was a member of the track and field team and qualified for the high jump and competed in Regionals.
Her basketball coach Mr. Eric Rothgery said that “She is a very talented athlete. However, her greatest attribute is that she is the ultimate team player. She always put her team’s success ahead of personal notoriety.”
