The Elyria Catholic track and field program competed at the Trinity Invitational at Bedford’s Bearcat Stadium on Friday (April 21) evening.
EC’s boys took eighth with 33 points while the girls finished 14th (five).
Junior Joyce Stupka scored for the girls with an eighth place finish in the 800 meter run. She covered the distance in 2:39.12. Lake Catholic’s Erin Ward won the event in 2:26.58 but the next three finishers were all within one second of each other.
Senior Daryl Davis was the runner-up in the long jump (21′ 1″) and turned in a fifth place finish in the high jump (5′ 8″). Freshman Chris Jackson took fifth in both the 100 (11.42) and 200 (23.78) to chip in eight points for EC.
Elyria Catholic’s throwers also had a nice day.
Senior Tommy Gillespie was fifth in the shot put (39′ 7″) and sixth in the discus (114′ 5″) while junior Gabe Hirsch took third in the discus when he was measured at one inch north of 121 feet.

The Panthers will be in action again on Wednesday (April 26) when they travel to Bay Village for a Great Lakes Conference dual with the Rockets.
