Girls Varsity Track, Varsity Track · Track and Field Program Sweeps Parma

The Elyria Catholic track and field program swept Parma Senior on Wednesday (April 12) afternoon. EC’s boys won by seven (72-65) while the girls took care of the visitors 101-27.

The EC boys won 11 events and on the girls side, EC won every event with the exception of the discus and long jump.

Senior Jared Fote won the 110 (16.4) and 300 (43.7) hurdles events and his classmates Daryl Davis and Tommy Gillespie were also two-event winners. Davis won the long jump (20’ 11 ½”) and high jump (5’ 8”) while Gillespie took the shot put (41’ 3”) and discus (120’ 3”).

Fellow senior Sam Best won the 400 in 56.4, sophomore Connery Van Dyke took the 3200 in 11:46 and freshman Chris Jackson won the 100 in 11.5.

EC’s boys also took the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays.

Freshman Meghan Jancsura won both the 100 (19.2) and 300 (55.9) hurdles and junior Joyce Stupka took both the 800 (2:52.70) and 1600 (6:19.80).

Sophomore Kristina Ferenzi was the first to finish in the 100 (13.3) and her classmate Emily Dugan was victorious in the 200 (29.6). Fellow sophomores Gianna Foisy won the 400 (1:11.80) and Alex Corrigan earned the shot put title (26’ 11 ¾”).

Three juniors won events: Beth Ziegelmeyer in the 3200 (13:46.3), Ryan Kunkle in the high jump (4’ 2”) and Jessica Guilmette in the pole vault (6’).

EC’s girls also won all four relays.

Elyria Catholic will host Normandy on Wednesday, April 19th at 4:30 p.m. Please note that the meet is being held at EC as it was originally scheduled for Byers Field but a scheduling conflict has moved it to Elyria.
