Drew Beck scored five goals as the hockey team knocked off Brush by a score of 9-1 in a GCHSHL Blue Division game played Wednesday (Dec. 7) at North Park Ice Arena.
EC struck first with a Sarah Fenik goal. She was set up by Riley Cunningham and Kyle Horvatich.
Two goals from Beck widened the lead to three before the Arcs closed the period with a goal to make it 3-1 after one.
Horvatich scored early in the second off helpers from Cunningham and Fenik before Beck’s third goal made it a 5-1 game.
Just 13 seconds after the Beck goal, Horvatich scored again off helpers from Beck and Ryan Sustersic to extend the lead to five.
Sustersic set up Beck for his fourth goal – and second of the period – which made it a 7-1 game after two frames.
Beck scored for the final time with 4:21 to go off assists from Sustersic and Sam Best and then Sustersic scored the game’s final goal – this one of the shorthanded variety – courtesy of Beck and Horvatich.
Goalie Kevin Hahn made 15 stops as the Panthers improved to 1-2 on the young year.
EC is back at it on Thursday (Dec. 8) with a league game against the Brooklyn Hurricanes. That game will start at 7:15 p.m. at the Coyne Recreation Center.
