Multiple Teams · Varsity Baseball Team Sweeps Wellington on Saturday


The Elyria Catholic varsity baseball team swept Wellington in a doubleheader at Oberlin College on Saturday (April 16) to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Freshman Jack Laird earned the win in game one as he went the distance in the Panthers 4-1 win. He finished with 10 strikeouts and the lone run was unearned.

In game two, Jacob Dembiec got his first varsity win on the mound while Michael Nedwick earned the save in relief. Sean Darmafall and Colden Schemmel each had three hits as Panthers offense exploded in the 16-6 win.

Elyria Catholic will host Holy Name for a Great Lakes Conference get-together on Monday (April 18) afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and Andrew Abrahamowicz will be on the bump.
