The Elyria Catholic varsity baseball team completed its second straight 12-0 campaign in the Great Lakes Conference with a 3-1 win at Bay on Monday (May 15).

With the win, the Panthers – winners in 24 straight GLC games – are now 20-3 overall.

Senior pitcher Jacob Dembiec was brilliant in his complete game effort. He allowed just three hits and walked a batter.

His counterpart Liam Hanna was the hard-luck loser. He scattered five hits and three walks while recording three punchouts.

EC gave Dembiec some breathing room early with two runs in the top of the first and another in the top of the second. Bay closed the scoring by bringing an unearned run across in the bottom of the third.

Junior Ryan Strittmather was 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Sophomore Leighton Banjoff singled and scored while freshman Brendan Holley had a double and a pair of runs batted in.

Sophomore Gavan Hrobat scored a run and senior Tony LoParo drove one in.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday (May 16) with a district semifinal game against Lutheran West. First pitch of that game is set for 4:30 p.m.
